Blindness In the play Oedipus the King written by Sophocles the main character Oedipus suffers from the tragic flaw arrogance. Through herald by of the closet the play his ego gets in the steering of realization that he has killed his father and married his mother. Since they refused to believe their prophecies and ignored their fate they became blind to on the whole the possible example signs. His wife Jocasta who in all actuality is his mother also believed prophecies did non surface true, and contributed to his arrogance by reassuring him that prophecies did non come true. When Oedipus became king he sent Creon to sign out why there was a plague on his res publica of Thebes, when Creon comes back he says the oracle says the plague will non end unless the murderer of former king, Laius, is caught.
